Collaboration with Acta Ingeniería and AR Arquitectura y Gestión in the competition for an urbanisation project in Ciudad de la Costa, Uruguay. Landscaping design of the urbanisation gardens and the attached park.
The urban planning and competition conditions underwent modifications. Firstly, we propose an environmental recovery of the surface adjacent to urbanisation. Such recovery consisted of the creation of a wetland with endemic species, an element of great biodiversity and landscape richness that would also fulfil, like all wetlands, an important function of buffering floods and would simultaneously promote ecotourism and environmental education.
Subsequently, and when the conditions of the surface adjacent to the urbanisation changed, we proposed the landscaping of part of the surface, continuing with the design of the green areas belonging to the urbanisation.
The landscape design of the development had to be modern and minimalist, following the style of the new buildings. We traced large masses of herbaceous and grass plants arranged following aesthetic criteria, playing with and combining colours, heights and flowering times. We grouped the species also following ecological criteria, according to their water, sunshine and soil needs. We select endemic species and whenever possible, we avoid foreign species, obviously refusing to use those with invasive potential.
